Monday was the teachers first day of school for this year. We had meetings all day long! I can definately sympathize with the students having to sit and listen to lecture classes all day. But they do get to walk between classes every 50 minutes. We sat longer than that.
Then Tuesday we had our Middle School faculty meeting in the morning. But at least then all the meetings were over - at least for me. Tuesday night I had double activities scheduled. It was Relief Society weekly meeting. Sariah always has such good ideas. But I had to miss it because it was also our school's open house. It was really great seeing the kids. When it isn't great seeing the kids, it will be time to retire. Jake says this year and 2 more. We will see. It may be longer or shorter, depending upon how I feel on Open House night!
Wednesday we worked till noon and I came home. Jake was home so we just sorta hung out. I haven't finished my quilts I want to complete or done my mending, either.
Today was the first day of school for the kids. I have a wonderful library aide. We did the yearly paperwork for her - and the 3 cadet teachers who don't get to go to their classes till Monday. Once we covered their paperwork, we hung 8 of the puzzles we had put together last year but hadn't had the chance to hang. Several students asked about puzzles this year, so I guess we will do them again. I have a couple here we could do, but one has a missing piece, one is round (!) and the last one has 2000 pieces. Dale and I have begun the 2000 piece one and it is HARD!
I did finally finish the book I had decided to complete before school started. It is one from Junior Library Guild - The List by Siobhan Vivian. It was OK. I was determined to finish it, but it is one I could take or leave. It is about a list published each year by an unknown person of the ugliest and prettiest girls in each class and their reactions to the list. As I said, OK, but not a great book in my opinion. It might be good for a class read, but there is some language I would not use in class - or anywhere for that matter. But I can at least give my honest opinion now if I am asked about it. I am also listening to a book on the Kindle - Stolen Crown written from a husband and wife perspective set in the middle to late 1400's in England. I guess I am on a roll, because this one isn't great either. It is about the Duke and Duchess of Buckingham, married as children, their relationship between each other and their relationships with several different monarchs of England. It is another OK book. When I finished The List, I picked the shortest book in my "to read for school" bag. It is Shimmer, the second in a series. I haven't read much of it. I hope it gets better.
Well, tomorrow is a new day. My intentions are to process a few books and lots of magazines. Cristen will check in the magazines and we will delete some of the older ones.
